Let me put it into a simple philosophy. I picked this up in my business, and it certainly applies here. Let me know what you think.
Some people come into our lives for a REASON. This could be to help us get over a relationship, pick us up when we’re down, or teach us a lesson that we needed to learn, pleasant or otherwise. When their time has passed, so will they. They came for a REASON.
Some people come into our lives for a SEASON. They stay around through thick and thin for a time, and then they, too, are on their way. Our former partners often fit this description. They bring us all the wonders of life, and one day they move on to other things. They came for a SEASON.
Some people come into our lives for LIFE. They are rare and far between, yet they bring the most value to our lives. They laugh with us, cry with us, and grow with us. We know them now, and we will know them far down the road. Our spouses and best friends might fit this category, staying with us through thick and thin. They came for LIFE.
The question always bears asking: “How do I know which is which?” The answer is simple: you’ll know by the time you have together, whether a day or a lifetime. With that in mind, treasure each of the people you have for as long as they have a place in your life.
